About Timaru...

Timaru is large enough for good amenities and small enough for a wonderful lifestyle. Within easy reach of Christchurch and Dunedin so you have the best of living in smaller, calmer paced city while having access to larger city centres.

Timaru is a gateway to some of the most beautiful and iconic Central South Island areas, including the High Country, the Southern Alps, Aoraki Mt Cook and the lakes. If you enjoy outdoor pursuits and recreation there is a wealth to choose from in the area.

Sara Lister knows the region very well and can help you with information on local attractions and events, accommodation, activity and transport bookings throughout the Timaru Region and NZ.

Timaru has many attractions and features. It is a wonderful city in which to raise children and well provided with excellent primary and secondary schools and a tertiary education facility, Aoraki Polytech; everything is conveniently located. Local attractions and facilities include good shopping, Caroline Bay, our Rose Gardens, Museum, Caroline Bay Carnival, Aigantighe Art Gallery, historical buildings, and a wonderful local library.

Driving Distances...

The close proximity to the great outdoors is a real plus - biking, walking tracks, swimming, tramping and skiing are all close to Timaru and the larger cities in the South Island are only a few hours drive.
